Patriots improve to 4-2 overall with dominant performances against Rosemont and York College
BRYN MAWR, PA – September 13, 2025 – The University of Valley Forge Patriots women's volleyball team showcased their strength and depth in a successful tri-match hosted at Rosemont College's Hirsh Community Center, beating both opponents in straight sets and four-set victories to improve their overall record to 4-2.
Match 1: Valley Forge 3, Rosemont 0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-19)
The Patriots opened their day with a commanding sweep of host Rosemont College. Valley Forge controlled the match from start to finish, never allowing the Ravens to build momentum.
Junior outside hitter Unique Castilho led the Patriots' offensive attack with 9 kills, while Clarissa Lockman added 8 kills with an impressive .235 hitting percentage. Abigail Sumego orchestrated the offense with 16 assists and contributed 3 kills of her own.
The Patriots' serving game was particularly effective, recording 13 service aces led by Mattayah Lyndaker (4) and Clarissa Lockman (4). Defensively, Hadassah Rivera anchored the back row with 17 digs.
Match 2: Valley Forge 3, York College (NY) 1 (25-15, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20)
In the day's second match, Valley Forge faced a more challenging opponent against York College (NY). After taking the first two sets convincingly, the Patriots dropped the third set before regrouping to close out the match in four.
Clarissa Lockman was the offensive star, recording 9 kills on .286 hitting with 6 service aces. Unique Castilho added 8 kills, while Mattayah Lyndaker contributed 5 kills and a block. Abigail Sumego continued her strong setting performance with 15 assists.
York's Zia Lefebvre kept her team competitive with a match-high 15 kills on .220 hitting, but the Patriots' balanced attack and strong serving (15 aces as a team) proved too much to overcome.
