Box Score 2 Game Recap | Women's Softball | March 17, 2018
PHEONIXVILLE, PA. – The University of Valley Forge Women's Softball team (0-2) hosted the Christendom Crusaders (0-4) dropping both games in the double header. Â
Game 1 Summary – Patriots 7, Crusaders 22
The Patriots started the game hot going 3up-3down striking out two of the first three batters. Then capitalized on excellent pitching and defense. Carlee Conrad,
Kaitlyn Hess and
Lindsay LeSueur loaded the bases forÂ
Shania Walker who drove the ball into right field and scored two. Tiffany Tharp continued the run with a hit to center field scoring two more. Tharp worked her way across home plate with the help from Danielle Handzel's right field hit. This gave the Patriots a 5-0 run start to the game.Â
The Crusaders responded by scoring 20 runs from 10 hits. Hess took over the pitching duties closing with two more earned runs. The Patriots held the Crusaders to two earned runs the next three innings but did not match them at the plate. Scoring two more runs in the fourth from Walker's single to center. Walker led the Patriots with 4 RBI's going perfect at the plate (2-2). Â
Game 2 Summary – Patriots 0, Crusaders 11
The Patriots were unable to get the bats going early on, but the Crusaders mounted a three run lead after the first inning. However, the Patriots completed the rarely seen triple play to shut out the Crusaders and get back to the plate for their chance to crack at the lead. As the Patriots struggled to produce offensively the Crusaders cruised to an 11-0 win scoring seven in the fourth.Â
