Patriots Dominate in Doubleheader Sweep Over Sarah Lawrence
On March 10, 2025, the University of Valley Forge softball team hosted Sarah Lawrence College for a doubleheader and secured a dominant sweep, winning both games decisively.
Game 1: Valley Forge 11, Sarah Lawrence 0
The Patriots set the tone early, scoring six runs in the first inning. Keegan Thompson initiated the offense with an RBI single, followed by Arianna Harris reaching on an error that allowed another run to score. Alyssa Page then delivered a two-RBI double, extending the lead. Additional runs came from a bases-loaded walk and another error by Sarah Lawrence. In the fifth inning, Valley Forge added five more runs, highlighted by Thompson's two-RBI triple. Pitcher Harley Wakeman was stellar on the mound, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out one.
Game 2: Valley Forge 10, Sarah Lawrence 2
In the second game, Valley Forge's offense remained potent. A pivotal second inning saw the Patriots score four runs, capitalizing on a key error and an RBI double by Marissa Urner. Urner continued her impressive performance with a total of four hits and four RBIs in the game. Sarah Lawrence managed to score two runs in the fifth inning, but Valley Forge responded with four runs in the bottom half to secure the victory via the run rule. Wakeman earned her second win of the day, pitching five innings, allowing six hits, and striking out three.
