Box Score PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Patriots came up with their first win of the season on Saturday, as they salvaged a double header split with the Warriors of Vaughn College.
Game 1The Patriots would jump out to a 6-0 lead after 2. The Warriors would jump back with 3 in the 3
rd. The Patriots answered right back in the bottom half of the inning as
Waldo Odens Jr. hit a RBI single, and
Shelton Gray would get an RBI walk making the lead 10-3. From that point on the Patriot bats went silent, and the Warriors scored 10 unanswered runs, including 4 runs in the 7
th to claim the first game victory.
James Jackson went 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored, and
Ryon McGinness went 2-4 with 2 RBI's in the loss.
Game 2The Patriots were off to a sluggish start in game 2 after blowing a lead in game 1. The Warriors jumped out early, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1
st. The Patriots managed their first run in the 3
rd when
Shelton Gray hit an RBI double scoring
Waldo Odens Jr. Going into the 7
th, the Patriots trailed 8-3. Now started the big inning. They manufactured 5 runs, capped by a
Jared Spiro RBI ground out to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Vaughn would score in the top half of the 8
th, and it was up to the Patriots again to mount a comeback.
Eddy Palacio grounded out to start the inning.
James Jackson would remain hot at the plate and doubled.
Waldo Odens Jr. would follow with a walk.
Shelton Gray would then come up with a RBI single to tie the game and move the winning run to 3
rd with only 1 out.
Ryon McGinness would complete the comeback and earn the walk off win when he singled scoring Waldo Odens Jr for the 10-9 victory.
James Jackson went the distance on the mound, striking out 11 and walking 3.
Shelton Gray was 2-4 at the plate with 3 RBI's.
Waldo Odens Jr. was 2-2 with 2 walks.
The Patriots will return to action on Thursday, March 24
th when they host Penn State Hazleton in a double header starting at 2pm.
