Dalmado Dominates as Patriots Edge Penn State-Brandywine 3-1

Complete Game Masterpiece Earns Third Conference Victory of Season

ASTON, PA – April 7, 2026 – Pitcher Brandon Dalmado delivered a complete game gem, scattering eight hits over nine innings while striking out 10 batters as the University of Valley Forge Patriots defeated Penn State-Brandywine 3-1 in cold, windy conditions.

Dalmado was masterful on the mound, allowing just one run with no walks while working efficiently through nine complete innings. The right-hander threw 114 pitches in front of 100 fans, consistently working ahead in counts and keeping the Nittany Lions' offense off balance despite their eight hits.

The Patriots grabbed an early lead in the first inning when Gabriel Murphy was hit by pitch, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another wild pitch with Chase Timmons at the plate to make it 1-0.

Valley Forge added two crucial insurance runs in the fifth inning. After Penn State-Brandywine had tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Juan Lopez reached on an error, and Zack Haines followed with a single. Timmons drove in Lopez with an RBI single, and Asijah Evelyn came through with a sacrifice that allowed Haines to score on a throwing error, giving the Patriots a 3-1 advantage.

Haines led the offensive effort with a 2-for-4 performance and a walk, while Timmons went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Brayden Tunnell added a hit and a walk, Joey Demirjian contributed a hit and a stolen base, and Murphy reached base twice via hit and hit-by-pitch.

Penn State-Brandywine collected eight hits but couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities against Dalmado's dominant performance. Ivano Romaniello led the Nittany Lions with two hits including a double, while Miguel Rodriguez and David Kursman each had two hits. David Kursman drove in the lone run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.

The victory marked the Patriots' third conference win of the season and showcased the kind of pitching performance needed to win close games on the road. Dalmado's ability to pitch deep into games and keep his team in position to win has been a key factor in Valley Forge's conference success.

The Patriots' defense played error-free baseball behind Dalmado for much of the game, committing just one error while turning routine plays into outs. Valley Forge's patient approach at the plate resulted in five walks, and the team took advantage of Penn State-Brandywine's mistakes to manufacture runs in key moments.
