Valley Forge Rolls Past Yeshiva 12-3 in Home Doubleheader

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. — Valley Forge baseball opened their home doubleheader against Yeshiva University in dominant fashion Wednesday afternoon, cruising to a 12-3 victory at UVF Ballpark. The Patriots improved to 8-6 on the season behind a balanced offensive attack and a strong outing from starter Evelyn Asijah.

Chase Timmons was the offensive engine, going 2-for-3 with a double, five RBI, and two runs scored. He did his most damage in the sixth inning, ripping a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases and gave Valley Forge breathing room at 11-3. Liam Nesemeier and Aaron Zapata each drove in two runs as well, with Zapata adding a single in the sixth to push the lead to 12.

Valley Forge built their lead gradually before breaking the game open in the third and fifth innings. In the third, Juan Lopez singled home Gabriel Murphy to tie the game at one, and after Juan Lopez stole second and advanced on a catcher's error, Carson Lengle scored as well to put Valley Forge up 3-1. A sacrifice fly by Chase Timmons made it 4-1 heading into the fourth. The Patriots then erupted for four more in the fifth, getting RBI contributions from Chase Timmons, Josh Zollo, Aaron Zapata, and Liam Nesemeier to push the lead to 8-1.

Asijah Evelyn earned the win (1-0), working six innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits while striking out one and walking three. Gabriel Bledsoe came on to close out the seventh, retiring all three batters he faced with two strikeouts.

Valley Forge collected 12 hits on the day, with Juan Lopez going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. Josh Zollo contributed 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Gabriel Murphy and Carson Lengle each scored twice and drew multiple walks to keep the pressure on Yeshiva throughout.

Yeshiva made things briefly interesting in the sixth, scoring twice to trim the deficit to five, but Valley Forge answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half to put the game out of reach.
