Phoenixville, PA – The Valley Forge Patriots women's soccer team delivered a thrilling comeback performance on Thursday, overcoming an early deficit to defeat Penn State-Scranton 4-2 at The Patriot Field.
The Patriots found themselves trailing 2-1 at halftime but exploded in the second period with three unanswered goals to secure their fourth win of the season and improve to 3-7-0 overall.
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER LEADS THE WAY
The star of the match was undoubtedly Emily Biser who had a standout night netting two goals to lead the Patriots' attack. Danielle Horne, who also put on an absolute clinic with 20 shots and capped off her dominant performance with a goal and an assist.
SECOND HALF SURGE
After Penn State-Scranton took a 2-1 lead into the break, Valley Forge wasted no time equalizing with a team goal just 1:21 into the second period. The Patriots then seized control at the 77:24 mark when Biser scored her second goal of the match, followed by Horne's insurance goal at 85:36 to seal the victory.
DEFENSIVE EFFORT
Despite the offensive showcase, goalkeeper Abigail Wood made five crucial saves to help preserve the win, while the Patriots' defense weathered 11 total shots from Penn State-Scranton.
