Box Score Our Valley Forge Men's Basketball team went on the road this past Tuesday to go up against Notre Dame University of Maryland in a huge conference matchup. We were able to take the game 73-65. After taking a game against Cairn at Home, this brings us to Back-2-Back Conference Wins!
Notre Dame (2-15) started strong and held UVF at bay for much of the first half. Going up by as many as nine points, in a 23-32 game with about 4 minutes left in the half. Thanks to well balanced team scoring. Our Men showed grit and toughness though, as they were able to battle back to take the lead 38-37 going into the half. Thanks to nine points from Dashawn Goodine that included a massive three point jumper to tie it at 33 with 2 minutes to go. With seconds left, Quinton Renigar hit a clutch three pointer to take the 38-37 lead.
Going into the second half we were able to score first off of a Keyshawn Kennedy layup about 10 seconds in. After another Quinton Renigar three pointer, UVF saw an eight point lead at 47-39. Notre Dame was not going to let this one slip away however, putting up a run of their own to bring the scoring to 51-50 with 12 and a half minutes to go. Layups by both Isaiah Reece and Keyshawn Kennedy brought the lead to 5 in under a minute. A quick jumper by Jeremiah Daye just minutes later gave an even bigger lead at 61-54 with just under eight minutes to go. Notre Dame still would not go away however, going on a run supported by K'Won Johnson, who was able to hit a two and sink a couple free throws. Keeping the scoring tight at 62-62 with just over 4 minutes left.
From there it was the Jeremiah Daye and Keyshawn Kennedy show as they both hit multiple free throws to ice the game. Jeremiah hit two in a row with the score tied to take the lead. Right after that Keyshawn hit a jumper and was then fouled with 2:25 left. After going one for two at the line, Keyshawn was fouled again and was able to sink another one. Bringing the score to 68-62. Notre Dame drew a scare, bringing about a one possession lead for UVF from a couple made free throws by Cole Matthews. A few clutch free throws iced the game however and our Men were able to escape with the road win.
Our Men go on the road once again this Saturday the 27th. In a duel against Bryn Athyn!
