PHOENIXVILLE, PA – University of Valley Forge Director of Athletics announced today that Phil Over has been named the permanent Head Coach of the Patriots men's basketball program. Over, who has served as Interim Head Coach following his previous role as JV Head Coach and Varsity First Assistant Coach since 2022, has earned the permanent position after demonstrating exceptional leadership and program development during his interim tenure.
"We are thrilled to remove the interim tag and name Phil as our permanent head coach," said Athletic Director Gretchen LeVan. During his time as interim head coach, Phil has proven himself to be exactly what our program needs. His dedication to our student-athletes, his proven ability to develop young men both on and off the court, and his extensive leadership background have made this decision an easy one."
Over has proven himself during his interim role, building on nearly two decades of coaching experience across multiple levels. At University of Valley Forge, he successfully transitioned from his previous roles as JV Head Coach and First Assistant to interim head coach, demonstrating his readiness to permanently lead the program.
"The University of Valley Forge is uniquely positioned to spread The Gospel of Jesus Christ in Chester County and the Philadelphia Area," said Coach Over. "Being able to do that through basketball will be an honor and privilege for me, but also for our team, who has persevered through many trials, and is now ready to take the next step in our growth."
Prior to his current role, Over served as Head Coach for Windsor Christian Academy Boys Basketball (2019-2023) and Great Valley Basketball Tournament Division (2017-2023). His coaching versatility is evident in his experience across multiple sports, including roles with Great Valley High School's varsity programs in both basketball and softball.
Beyond athletics, Over brings exceptional business and leadership experience to the position. His professional background includes executive management positions where he consistently drove revenue growth and built high-performing teams.
"Phil's unique combination of coaching expertise and business leadership sets him apart," noted Athletic Director, Gretchen LeVan. "His experience developing people in both athletic and professional settings will be invaluable as we build our program."
Over holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and previously served as a PGA Class A Golf Professional. His diverse athletic background and commitment to character development align perfectly with University of Valley Forge's mission and values.
The Patriots are coming off a 2nd consecutive year making it to the United East Playoffs and they look to build momentum under Over's leadership in the upcoming season.
