Cyclones Take Out Patriots

Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Baseball team faced the Cyclones of Centenary University for a conference double-header on Monday afternoon. The Patriots fell to the Cyclones in both games (7-22, 1-18).

GAME ONE: 22-7 CENTENARY
The Cyclones jumped to early 5-0 lead in the first inning, despite the Patriots having two outs. Their offensive dominance continued as they crossed the plate in every inning but the seventh.
Down 11-0, Valley Forge put two runs on the board with Chandler Beard and George Delgado crossing the plate. Beard rocked a single to left field, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a throwing error. Delgado was batted in from a hard hit triple to left field from Thomas Bost.

The Patriots found four additional runs on four hits in the eighth, and 1 run on 1 hit in the ninth. However, it wouldn't be enough as the Cyclones took the 22-7 win.

As a unit, Valley Forge notched 7 runs on 8 hits and 6 RBI's.  Beard and Caballero led the team at the plate with 2 hits apiece, while Espinal tallied a game-high 3 RBI's.

GAME TWO: 18-1 CENTENARY

Centenary continued their offensive groove in the second game, totaling 18 runs on 16 hits with 17 RBI's.

Valley Forge put a mark on the board in the sixth inning with a down the middle homerun from Espinal, his first of the season.

The Patriots secured their solo run on 4 hits.

Valley Forge will look to bounce back on Saturday, April 10th as they travel to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to take on the Phoenix of Wilson College.
