La Plume, PA – The University of Valley Forge Baseball team traveled to La Plume, PA on Sunday, April 18
th for a conference matchup with the Giants of Keystone College. The Giants dominated the Patriots in both frames for final scores of 24-5, and 31-1.
GAME ONE: 24-5 KEYSTONE
With both sides scoreless through two innings, Keystone opened the offense with a 5-run inning in the bottom of the third. Valley Forge found the score board in the fourth, powered by a
Manuel Caballero double to center and a
Darrell Soto Diaz RBI to left. The Giants racked up 19 additional runs from the fourth to the sixth inning. Valley Forge dug deep to rally 4 runs on 2 hits and 1 Keystone error in the sixth, but it wasn't enough for the well-experienced Keystone squad.
Caballero led the team in runs and hits with 2 apiece.
Allan Goodwin tallied a game-high 4 RBI's.
GAME TWO: 31-1 KEYSTONE
Keystone claimed game-two from the very first inning, collecting 5 runs on 5 hits. The Giants were hot on offense as they scored every inning.
Valley Forge found the board in the last inning with a Caballero single and a
Jeffery Espinal RBI.
Valley Forge will look to bounce back as they take on the Highlanders of Cairn University at a neutral site in Flemington, NJ. on Wednesday, April 21
st. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with the second game to follow.
