Morristown, NJ. – The University of Valley Fore Softball team traveled to Morristown, NJ. on Wednesday afternoon for a conference double-header against the Eagles of St. Elizabeth University. Valley Forge dropped both games with scores of 14-0, and 11-1.
GAME ONE: 14-0 SEU
After a scoreless first inning, St. Elizabeth cracked the bats, scoring 9 runs on 7 hits. With a 9-0 advantage over the Patriots, the Eagles scored a solo run in the third inning, and rounded out the game with 4 additional runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 14-0 final score.
With a strong mound appearance from the Eagles, Valley Forge collected just three hits from
Destynie Blythers,
Jaeleen Mendoza, and
Jordyn Clarke.
GAME TWO: 11-1 SEU
The Eagles jumped on top in the first inning with 3 runs on 4 hits, and 2 Patriot errors. St. Elizabeth continued to dominate offensively by scoring 6 runs in the second on just 2 hits. The Eagles added two insurance runs in the third inning, changing the scoreboard to 11-0. Valley Forge found themselves on the board after Abby Foor reached first base on an error, and then advancing to second.
Morgan Bieler laid down a beautiful bunt to force a throwing error, which allowed Foor to score. Valley Forge needed two more runs to force another inning but came up short for a 11-1 final score in favor of the Eagles.
Valley Forge will look to bounce back on Saturday, April 17
th, as they host the Giants of Keystone College for a double-header on senior day. This first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., with the second game to follow.
