Langhorne, PA – Originally anticipating a home court advantage, the Patriots traveled to Langhorne, PA to face the Highlanders of Cairn University after an unforeseen facility issue. Valley Forge fell short in their season opener, 69-55.
Senior
Amaya Brown notched a double-double with a team-high 15 points, 10 rebounds, and a 4-4 performance from the charity stripe. Junior
Shaelynn Newborn followed suit with an 11-point appearance. Newcomer
Elizabeth Davis tallied 9 points, going 3-6 from the three.
The Highlanders started off hot with a 10-0 run. Valley Forge cut the Highlanders lead in half with a pair of free-throws and a trey ball from transfer
Yoslene Quiles. Cairn held the pace to close out the first 10 minutes with a 19-11 lead.
Cairn opened the second-quarter with a three, however, Valley Forge answered with an
Elizabeth Davis three-pointer to cut the Highlanders lead to single digits. The Highlanders then forced two Patriot turnovers to extend the lead to 12. After trading points, Cairn entered half-time with a 5-0 run.
Trailing 40-24, the Patriots put on their best performance in the third-quarter, outscoring the Highlanders 15-10, and cutting Cairn's lead to just 11-points.
Although almost an even fourth-quarter, the Highlanders outscored 19-16, holding onto a 14-point lead for a 69-55 final score.
The Highlanders posted a 59-42 rebound advantage. Valley Forge forced 20 Cairn turnovers, securing 14 points.

th at noon in Langhorne, PA.
