Gwynedd Valley, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Basketball team faced an experienced Gwynedd Mercy squad on Saturday afternoon, eventually falling to the Griffins 103-66.
Cayleen Conrad led the Patriots with 18 points, going 7-18 from the field.
Carlee Conrad chipped in 13 points, her 13
th double-digit contest of the season.
Shania Walker tallied a career-high 13 points, while Alea Flower collected 10 points and a team-high 8 boards.

The Griffins opened the contest with a 13-0 run, holding the Patriots off of the scoreboard until a
Cayleen Conrad layup at 6:24. Valley Forge was able to cut the Griffins lead to 8 points after a layup from
Shania Walker, but Gwynedd Mercy got the last shot of the quarter, draining a three-ball to end the first-quarter with an 11-point advantage.
With fresh legs every minute, the Griffins extended held a significant lead most of the stanza, outscoring the Patriots 38-18.
The outnumbered Patriots battled their way through the third-quarter, pacing with the Griffins by tallying 17 points each.
Gwynedd Mercy took their biggest lead of the contest with a 38-point advantage. With only 4:33 remaining, the Patriots attempted to hold strong but the Griffins came out on top for a 103-66 win.
As a unit, the Patriots shot 27-80 from the field (33.8%), 4-25 from three-point land (16%), and 8-13 from the charity stripe (61.5%).
Gwynedd Mercy secured an additional 27 points off of 25 Patriot turnovers. Although the Griffins posted a 7+ benefit on rebounds, Gwynedd Mercy gathered 22 points off of second-chance opportunities.
The Patriots will be back in action at home as they host the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University on Monday, February 3
rd at 7 p.m.
