Brooklyn, NY - The University of Valley Forge Women's Soccer (2-7) tallied a hefty nine goals under the bright lights in the Big Apple to secure a victory over Medgar Evers College (0-7) on Saturday night.
The Patriots entered the game controlling the field with an early goal by
Cayleen Conrad in the 8
th minute of play. Conrad struck again in the 12
th and 15
th minute, earning a quick and impressive hat trick. Just twelve minutes later, Conrad navigated her way through the Cougars defense to score her fourth goal, extending the Patriots lead to 4-0. The Patriots continued to attack as
Haven Mayhew would score her first of the night at 33:27. Freshman
Madeline Lacourse would also earn herself a goal at 35:22, ending the first forty-five minutes with a half dozen advantage.
The Patriots didn't slow their pace as they swiftly gathered eleven shot attempts, ending in a goal from sophomore
Ashley Depointe in the 73
rd minute. Four minutes later,
Brandy Del Gallego was able to secure her first score of the season at 77:15. The Cougar's defense attempted to hold back the Patriots in the last 10 minutes of the game but it wasn't enough as
Haven Mayhew found the back of the net again in the 82
nd minute, with a 9-0 final score.
"The girls worked hard and got a much deserved victory," head coach
Ryan Gottier said. "Overall, the team played well, a few contributors shined, and we all enjoyed a great win under the lights - hopefully it is the harbinger of things to come."
The Patriots were able to collect a total of 44 shots and 16 corner kicks.
Valley Forge will continue their road venture with an away trip to Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday, October 1
st to face the Brooklyn College Bulldogs with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
