Langhorne, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Soccer team (1-7) fell short against the Highlanders of Cairn University (3-3-2) 10-0 in Langhorne, PA on Thursday afternoon.
With a strong team, the Highlanders opened the game up with a score at 3:23, creating an early 1-0 benefit. Cairn would increase their scoring opportunities with a tough offense, scoring in the 20
th minute, extending the lead to 2-0. Shortly after, the Highlanders would strike again with a goal in the 24
th minute, and two goals in the 33
rd minute of play. Before the half, Cairn was able to produce six more shots, scoring on two in the 39
th and 43
rd minute, closing the half with a 7-0 lead.
In the second-half, the Highlanders struck first with a score in the 48
th minute. Eight minutes later,
Megan Firth would receive a yellow card to allow the Highlanders a penalty kick in which they scored, changing the scoreboard 9-0. Cairn would finish the game with one last goal in the 86
th minute, for a 10-0 final score.
Goalkeeper Ashely Depointe held her own against a dominant Cairn team, gathering 16 saves on the match.
The Patriots will take a trip to Brooklyn, NY to face the Cougars of Medgar Evers College on Saturday, September 28
th for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
