Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer team fell to the Saints of Marymount University 7-0 on Wednesday evening at home.
The Patriots (5-4) allowed the Saints (5-5) to gather 25 shots, 15 on goal. Valley Forge collected 11 shots, 3 on goal.
The Saints came marching in with strong offensive play as they scored three first-half goals (7:21, 10:43, 18:40). The Patriots would try to retaliate with an attack but could not surpass the Marymount defense.
With the Saints leading 3-0 at the half mark, they continued to place pressure on the Patriots defense, striking again at 52:43 with another at 58:02 from a penalty kick. Valley Forge had a few scoring opportunities from
Devon Washington, and
Mathurin Allawai, but could not seal the deal as the Saints goalkeeper would record both saves. In the final 15 minutes of play, Marymount navigated their way through the Patriots, scoring a pair of goals (74:36, 87:37), for a 7-0 final score.
The Patriots will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 28
th at 2 p.m., as they host the Crusaders of Christendom College.
