Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

High-Powered Pratt Holds Off Patriots

Phoenixville, PA – Cayleen Conrad came up big for the Patriots early in the game, but the Cannoneers persevered to a tough victory. Valley Forge (0-6) was off to a good start in the second half, but were outscored by conference foe Pratt (2-4), falling 1-3.

The game started off slow for both teams with nothing on the scoreboard for the first 39 minutes. However, at 39:55, Cayleen Conrad recorded the first goal of the match with a strike 15-yards back, which then deflected off of the keeper's hand, and found its way deep in the goal. The Cannoneers were able to respond shortly after with a goal from Harper McVey at 43:01, tying the game 1-1 at the end of the half.

With the last half in full swing, the Patriots tried to hold off the Cannoneers from scoring despite their countless shot attempts, but came up short as Pratt would score off of the help from a corner at 78:31. The Cannoneers would score again from a free kick 35 yards out, finalizing the score 3-1.

Goalkeeper Ashley Depointe gathered 13 saves from Pratt's impressive 32 shot attempts, with 16 of those on goal.

The Patriots will look for redemption as they face The King's College at home on Sunday, September 22nd at 2:30 p.m.
