Brookyln, NY - Valley Forge used an early goal and offensive magic in the second-half to secure their fifth win of the season, breaking their win record from last year. The Patriots improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 away on the season.
The Patriots did not hesitate on getting down to business as Senior
Colton Swan would score in the first minute of the game on a nice feed from
Jesus Jimenez, creating an early 1-0 lead. The Cannoneers were finally able to respond in the 35
th minute from a corner kick that sunk directly in goal, setting both teams to a piece each.
With the second half starting, the momentum gravitated in the Patriots direction as
Mathurin Allawai directed a pass from
Devon Washington to nail it into the far post, taking back the lead 2-1. The Cannoneers were able to collect a handful of shot attempts but the Patriots defense was too hard to handle. With the Patriots looking to put the game away, freshman Benjamin Cocar found a middle cross from Allawai, striking a goal to the right side in the 87
th minute, closing out the match and defeating Pratt 3-1.
Through an extremely physical match, each team contested 16 fouls with Valley Forge receiving two yellow cards and Pratt earning one.
The Cannoneers displayed a 21-20 shot advantage, and an 8-4 jump on corners.
De'Andre Rogers gathered eight saves in the win.
The Patriots will look to extend their winning streak as they host Marymount University on Wednesday, September 25
