Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Gothic Knights Too Much for Patriots

Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer team (5-7) hosted the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University (10-4) on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The Knights were able to capitalize on a Patriot injury and secure a 2-0 victory.

With a solid Gothic Knight squad, the Patriots attempted to strike first with a few scoring opportunities. However, the Knights would earn a goal on a corner, creating a 1-0 lead at 21:49. The half remained quiet with a defensive game.

The Patriots started off the second-half in high defensive gear with consecutive saves and blocked shots. With the Knights maintaining steady possession, they were able to gather a score at 76:48, extending their lead 2-0. As the clock ticked down, the Patriots pushed offensively, gathering two shot attempts but could not seal the deal, finalizing the game 2-0.

The Gothic Knights posted a 41-11 shot benefit, with a 10-0 advantage on corners.

With an early goalkeeper injury, Bryon Ardon made an appearance in goal, collecting a total of 10 saves.

"Although it was a tough loss, our effort was incredible," head coach John Badidis shared. "I love when we can walk off of the field after a loss knowing we did everything that we could. NJCU was the highest nationally ranked team that we have played this year, and we were able to hold our own."

The Patriots will be back in action on Friday, October 11th as they host the Nittany Lions of Penn State Beaver at 3:30 p.m.
