Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer (5-6) fell to the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy (4-8-1) 1-0 on Friday afternoon at home.
Gwynedd Mercy posted a 25-12 shot advantage on the Patriots, with a 7-1 on corners.
With another scoreless first-half, the Patriots and Griffins battled it out, both dishing out several scoring opportunities. In similar fashion, the second-half was a consistent back and forth game with both teams attempting to attack. However, the Griffins were able to capitalize on a corner, scoring their lone goal at 57:45. The Patriots would push to make an offensive move, but Gwynedd Mercy was able to maintain the possession, closing out the game 1-0.
Defensively, the Patriots were a reckoning force as they battled the Griffins on the back line. Defense duo
Trevor Paisley and
Nicholas Turick were both able to block multiple shot attempts from the Griffins, preventing them from scoring any additional goals. Patriot goalkeeper
De'Andre Rogers made an exceptional twelve saves against the talented Griffins.
