Bronx, NY – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball team traveled to the Bronx, NY to face the Lightening of Lehman College on Thursday night. The Patriots left the Big Apple with a 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-21, 25-12, 26-16). With the win, the Patriots secured their third consecutive win, moving to 6-20 on the season.
After dropping a tough first set, the Patriots found their offensive footing, outscoring the Lightening 54-46. As a team, Valley Forge earned a .095 attacking percentage, gathering 35 kills out of an impressive 148 attempts.
Kaitlyn Hess led the offense with 17 kills, with
Hannah Hawryluk collecting 14 assists.
Mariah Straker proved herself at the service line with 6 aces on the evening. Defensively, libero
Melanie-Ann Torres gathered 24 digs, followed by
Jasmine Vargas (15) and
Kaitlyn Hess (12).
The Patriots were able to claim the next three sets, only allowing the Lightening to hit a .039 clip, as well as causing Lehman to commit 29 attacking errors.
The Patriots will look forward to hosting the ACAA Championships this upcoming weekend, November 2
nd and 3
rd.
