Patriots Sweep Cardinals

Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball team swept the Cardinals of York College (NY) 3-0 (27-25, 25-10, 25-21) at home on Tuesday night. With the win, the Patriots move to 5-20 on the season.

With a thrilling first set, the Patriots claimed the victory with a kill from Kaitlyn Hess and a pair of Cardinal errors, closing out the frame 27-25. However, Valley Forge was able to buckle down for the second set as they only allowed 20 total Cardinal points, shutting them out 25-10. In similar fashion to the first, the final set was encouraged by a few key Patriot rallies, ending in a 25-21 victory.

As a team, the Patriots earned a .096 attacking clip, tallying 27 kills out of 104 total attempts. Kaitlyn Hess led the Patriots in kills (7), followed by Kimberly Ramcharitar (6) and Mariah Straker (5). Hannah Hawryluk gathered 9 assists, while Kaitlyn Hess collected 8. The Patriots were evident at the service line as Hannah Hawryluk earned 6 aces, followed by Kaitlyn Hess (4). Defensively, Straker was a huge asset at the net as she put down 3 solo blocks, while Melanie-Ann Torres defended the back row with 25 digs.  

Valley Forge will resume regular season play on Thursday, October 24th as they travel to Bronx, NY to face the Lightening of Lehman College at 6 p.m.
