Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball team (4-18) hosted a tri-match on Saturday, ultimately falling to the Aggies of Delaware Valley (3-0), and the Bloodhounds of John Jay (3-1). With the pair of losses, the Patriots move to 3-19 on their season.
Match One: Delaware Valley 3, Valley Forge 0
The Aggies swept the Patriots 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-13) in their first match of the day. Senior
Kaitlyn Hess led the team in kills (6), service aces (2), and digs (20), while
Hannah Hawryluk led the Patriots in assists (7). As a team, Valley Forge collected a -.105 attacking percentage, earning only 11 kills out of 105 attempts.
Match Two: John Jay 3, Valley Forge 1
After the sweep, the Patriots took their second match of the day to four sets. However, the Bloodhounds would secure the win with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-6, 25-16. John Jay produced 43 kills out of 141 total attempts, while Valley Forge gathered 22 kills and 27 critical errors on 107 attempts, earning a -.047 clip.
Kaitlyn Hess lead the way in kills (7), with
Hannah Hawryluk leading in assists (8). Freshman
Jasmine Vargas tallied two service aces, while
Melanie-Ann Torres dominated the back row with 17 digs on the match.
