Conrad's Hat Trick Lifts Patriots Over Cardinals

Phoenixville, PA – With twelve minutes remaining on the clock, Cayleen Conrad scored her third goal of the match, giving the Patriots a 4-3 victory over the Cardinals of York College (NY). With the win, the Patriots move to 4-9 on the season, respectively.

With a welcoming Homecoming crowd, Valley Forge started off strong, contesting consecutive shots early in the match. The Patriots struck early with a goal from sophomore Cayleen Conrad in only the 6th minute, creating a quick 1-0 lead. However, the Cardinals would find themselves on the board at 29:39, tying the match 1-1. Although both teams were able to dish out a couple of shots, the score remained 1-1 at the end of the first-half.

The entire second-half was full of physical play, with each team building up momentum offensively. After a few Cardinal shots, York was finally able to connect, finding the back of the net at 57:17, taking the 2-0 lead. The Patriots would tie the match once again on a goal from Brandy Del Gallego, on a lead from Cayleen Conrad. A short three minutes later, Cayleen Conrad would score her second goal of the evening, taking back the lead 3-2. However, the Cardinals wouldn't go down without a fight as they scored on their next offense run, tying the game for the fourth time. As the clocked ticked down, Cayleen Conrad would sprint down the field and secure the hat trick and winning goal for the Patriots, finalizing the match 4-3.

Conrad's hat trick was her 10th goal on the season. Valley Forge posted a 22-20 shot advantage, while York held a 3-1 benefit on corners.

Goalkeeper, Ashley Depointe tallied 8 saves on the afternoon, including a save on a penalty kick.

"Impressive performances from both Cayleen and Ashley kept the game in sight the entire 90 minutes," associate head coach Kelsey Morrison shared. "This win was important for us going into the final week of season play."

The Patriots will look to improve on their season as they host the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton (Albany) on Friday, October 25th at 3:30 p.m.
