Mont Alto, PA - The University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer team traveled to Mont Alto, PA to take on the Nittany Lions of Penn State Mont Alto. UVF earned its first win of the year by a final score of 1-0.
In the opening moments of the game, the Patriots wasted little time trying to be the first on the scoreboard. Valley Forge let 5 shots fly towards goal in the opening 10 minutes of the contest. UVF continued to put pressure on the Lion defense but weren't able to break through in the first half. The Patriots defense controlled Mont Alto and allowed 3 shots on goal in the first half.
In the 47th minute of the second half, the Patriots broke through.
Bryan Ardon put a pass right in line to
Velkin Escobar. The freshmen from Phoenixville, PA beat the Lion keeper for his first goal of his college career. The Valley Forge offense continued to put pressure on the Mont Alto defense. UVF attempted 6 shots on goal in the second half. The Patriots played most the second half in their own offensive end of the field. The Patriots held on to win their first game of the year by shutting out Penn State by a final score of 1-0.
