Game Recap Women's Softball April 6, 2018
Garnet Valley, PA- The University of Valley Forge Patriots (1-9) took on the Baruch College Bearcats, losing both games of a double header.
Game 1- Patriots 3, Bearcats 14
Game Summary- Lindsay LeSeur started on the mound for the Patriots, but she unable to keep the offensive attack at bay. Complemented by timely hitting, 13 walks were given up by Patriots pitching. Most of the Bearcats' damage was done in the 1
st and 4
th innings, scoring six and eight runs. Nicole Belli went 2-3 on the plate with a double and an RBI. Victoria Kissling and Amba Jagnarine walked three times, knocked in two runs, and scored two runs. Cassandra Lagana got the win for the Cats, going five innings while giving up four runs, seven hits, and striking out eight.
Shania Walker and Tiffany Tharp each knocked in two runs for the Patriots to end game one.
Game 2- Patriots 8, Bearcats 10
Game Summary- The second game of the double header was a completely different story for the patriots. They jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the second, and by the end of the fifth, they had a 8-1 lead going into the sixth. However, the Bearcats scored seven runs in the top of the sixth to pull even with the Patriots. They scored two more in the top of the seventh to take the lead. Petrunti and Padron knocked in two runs each in both innings. The Patriots' offensive efforts did not give them an edge in the bottom of the seventh, thus ending game two with a loss.
What's next- The Patriots are back home on Sunday to take on York College, and Baruch plays Thursday, April 12, traveling to take on John Jay College.
