PHEONIXVILLE, PA. – The University of Valley Forge Patriots (0-0) kick off their season opener against the Highlander from Cairn University (2-2).Â
Game 1 Summary – Patriots 8, Highlanders 19
The Patriots looked to fight off the Highlanders during the season opener. The Highlanders got the bats started early scoring nine total runs in the top of the first inning. The Patriots held the Highlanders to zero earned runs through the next two innings but, were not able to capitalize. In the top of the fourth inning the Highlanders increased their lead by scoring six runs from four hits; however,
Lindsay LeSueur started the bottom of the fourth with a walk and advanced to third from a
Shania Walker walk and error.Â
Kimberly Acosta earned an RBI with a hit to third base which allowed Walker to score. The Patriots kept a close eye on the plate earning multiple walks and scoring seven runs on two hits to chip away at the 15-7 Highlander lead. Patriots answered back in the final inning with four runs, holding the Highlanders to one run in the bottom of the fifth. LeSueur led the Patriots with three RBI's on 1-2 batting adding 3 strikeouts.

Game 2 Summary – Patriots 0, Highlanders 11
The Patriots looked to learn from the first game. However the Highlander's held the Patriots from scoring on two hits. The Highlanders took a lead by scoring eleven runs in the first three inning to separate themselves from the Patriots.
Kaitlyn Hess led on the mount for the Patriots collecting two strikeouts facing twenty-nine batter.Â
