Patriots Record Second Straight Shutout with Win over Brooklyn College

Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Soccer team played host to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Tuesday afternoon.  Stout defense helped the Patriots improve their record to 6-4 after a 1-0 shutout win over the Bulldogs.

Valley Forge refused to allow Brooklyn College to settle into their offense.  The Patriots pressured the Bulldogs all afternoon with solid defense.  The Patriots lone goal that would prove to be the game winner came in the 25th minute of the first half.  Carlee Conrad crossed over the Bulldog defender causing the defense to collapse.  With the defense closing in, Conrad found Alondra Hernandez-Garduno all by herself.  Hernandez-Garduno beat the Bulldog keeper to give UVF a 1-0 lead.

The ball remained at midfield for most of the second half.  The Patriots defense held Brooklyn College to just one shot.  The Bulldogs lone shot turned out to be their best scoring opportunity.  The Bulldog's Rachel Gomez took a free kick and put her shot right into the hands of Patriot's keeper Giselle Rojas.  Valley Forge closed out the game for their sixth win of the season by a final score of 1-0.  This was the Patriots second consecutive shutout.
