Phoenixville, PA – On Senior Day, the University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer team welcome the Central Penn College Knights to UVF on Wednesday afternoon. The scoring was fast and furious as the Patriots walked away with a 10-0 win.
Senior Day is always bittersweet. It marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new season. For this senior class, they wanted nothing more than to walk off their home field for the final time with a win.
Brandon Nyekan got things rolling for the Patriots immediately. Nyekan scored in the 4th minute with the assist going to Velkin Escobar. The duo caused havoc all day for the Knight defense. In the 11th and 18th minute, Jesus Jimenez found pay dirt twice and both were assisted by Velkin Escobar. Before the Knights could blink they would be down 3-0.
Velkin Escobar took his turn and was able to record his first college career hat trick. Escobar scored in the 24th, 43rd, and 44th minute with two assists going to Brandon Nyekan. The Patriots led comfortably at the half 6-0.
As the second half began, the Patriots continued just where they left off. Brandon Nyekan completed the third hat-trick of his career. After scoring in the 4th minute of the first half, Nyekan scored goals two and three in the 49th and 61st minutes. Nyekan was assisted by Velkin Escobar and Gorge Andino.
In the 65th minute, Jimmy Lee scored his first collegiate goal when he dribbled through the defense and beat the keeper.
Velkin Escobar completed the scoring when he placed his shot in the back of the net off of a cross from Jesus Jimenez. When all was said and done, the Patriots sent their seniors off with a commanding win by a score of 10-0.
Congratulations to our seniors: Gorge Andino, Brandon Nyekan and Jacob Kelley
