Mount Hope, WV - The University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer team traveled south for a game against the Warriors of Appalachian Bible College. The Patriots finished their 2018 season off with a win by a final score of 6-1.
Valley Forge finished off their season strong by winning their final two games.
Brandon Nyekan got things rolling for the Patriots in the 16th minute. Nyekan stole the ball from the Warrior keeper and put the ball in the back of the net. UVF led 1-0. In the 35th minute,
Velkin Escobar took a corner and sent the ball flying towards the goal. The ball struck a Warrior defender and snuck into goal. Escobar's goal gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead.
The Patriots had all the momentum going into the second half.
Velkin Escobar struck again when he found himself one on one against the ABC keeper. Escobar scored his 2nd of the afternoon and the 13th of the season in the 50th minute to give Valley Forge a 3-0 lead. UVF continued to pour it on.
Jesus Jimenez was at the right place at the right time. The Warrior's keeper was unable to handle a Patriot shot and the ball bounced back out into play.
Jesus Jimenez took the loose ball and nailed the back of the net in the 65th minute that gave UVF a 4-0 lead. The Patriots weren't done yet.
Brandon Nyekan took on the Warrior defense and with his left foot, he put a shot in the bottom left of the goal in the 75th minute and the route was on. The "icing on the cake" came in the 89th minute. In the final minute of his last collegiate game,
Gorge Andino took a cross and headed the ball from 6 yards out. Andino's header sailed into the back of the net for the first goal of his career. The Patriots won by a final score of 6-0.
