Phoenixville, PA – The Patriot's Women's Volleyball team played host the to the Cougars of Misericordia University on Thursday evening. The Patriots faced a tough Cougar opponent and fell in straight sets 25-11, 25-14 and 25-13.
Misericordia raced out of the gates with an 11-2 scoring run. The Cougars capitalized on offense and executed a total of 14 kills throughout the first set. UVF fell 25-11 in set #1. In the early stages of set #2, the Patriots hung tough. Down 6-4, Valley Forge took advantage of a kill by
Mariah Straker, a Cougar error and a service ace from Straker. The Patriots took a 7-6 lead. The score remained close until Misericordia reeled off 9 straight points that put the game out of reach. The Cougars won game #2 by a score of 25-14. Game #3 was nearly identical to game #2. Valley Forge was able to keep things close, but Misericordia started to crank up their offense. MU went on a 16-0 scoring run to put the game away 25-13 to win the match in straight sets.
