Chambersburg, PA – The University of Valley Forge women's basketball team traveled out to Chambersburg to take on the Phoenixes of Wilson College. The Patriots came out victorious, besting Wilson by a score of 62-49.
The Patriots put up their own steel curtain, holding the Phoenix to just five points throughout the entire first quarter. Jhanel and Amaya Brown gave Valley Forge a quick 5-0 lead.
Jhanel Brown would account for the remaining points scored for Valley Forge in the quarter, totaling an impressive 11 points on the period. The second quarter provided a breath of fresh air to the wings of the Phoenix, with their offense putting up 15 points to cut the Patriot lead to just six at half.
All Patriot fans held their collective breath with two minutes to go in the third quarter when a foul triggered three free throws for Wilson. After the Phoenix sunk all three buckets, the onus was on the Patriots' offense to gain some breathing room. Valley Forge responded in due fashion with an and one from Amaya Brown. Lay-ups from

Alea Flowers provided a sufficient six-point cushion to conclude the quarter, with Valley Forge ahead 44-38.
Valley Forge only had to outlast Wilson for a final 10 minutes to claim their third win on the season. After allowing the Phoenix to come within four points, the Patriots offense answered the call, making an impressive 7-0 run around four and a half minutes to play, putting their opponent's comeback on ice. With a comfortable 58-45 lead, the methodical Patriot attack took their time with possession of the ball, salting away the clock en route to a 62-49 final score. Valley Forge improved to 3-5 on the season.

Jhanel Brown led the Patriots in scoring, accounting for an impressive 32 points on the night. She also added 19 total rebounds to her stat line as well. Amaya Brown scored 15 points as well, followed by 7 points from
Bailey Mayforth. Valley Forge shot 41.9% from the field, while Wilson was good just 23.7% of the time.
