Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Basketball team played host to the Knights of Neumann University on Friday evening. A late second half comeback fell short as Neumann won by a final score of 79-61.
The first half was completely controlled by Neumann. The Knights knocked down 7 treys and were able to open up a big lead. Neumann led by as many as 24 and would go into halftime with a 42-21 lead.
Playing without their leading scorer in
Alex Sanchez because of an ankle injury he suffered against Misericordia, the Patriots needed a total team effort if they wanted to get back into the ball game. Down by 24 halfway through the second half, Coach
DJ Damazo went deep into his bench to try and find an answer.
John Morant stepped on the court and immediately made an impact. Morant found
Arthur Wilborn underneath for a layup to spark a 13-3 Valley Forge run. The Patriots cut the Knight lead to 14. With a little under 6 minutes to play. Unfortunately for UVF, they ran into a very experienced and battle tested Neumann team. The late second half comeback fell short as Neumann won by a final score of 79-61.
