Wildcats take down Patriots

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- SUNY Polytech came in and took both games of the double-header on Friday from UVF. They won by scores of 21-3 and 12-0 in a weather shortened 5 inning game.

Game 1

In Game 1, the Wildcats scored early and often. The only inning they did not score was the 6th. They would capitalize on 9 Patriot errors to cruise to a 21-3 victory.

The Patriots 3 runs came in the bottom of the 4th. Waldo Odens Jr. would lead off the inning with a single. After a fly out, Jon Manning would then single to make it first and second with 1 out. Joey Gacesa then would single loading the bases. Up to the plate

came David CastroWard who singled to drive in both Odens Jr. and Manning. After a Jared Spiro single, the Patriots capped off their scoring on a Daniel Lyons RBI single.

Jon Manning went the distance on the mound, striking out 6 Wildcat batters. He along with Waldo Odens Jr. also led the team in hits with 2 each.

Game 2

The Patriots looked to bounce back in game two. Again, errors continue to plague the Patriots. In a weather shortened game, they still managed to commit 5 errors. The Wildcats scored 5 in the 1st and 7 in the 2nd for the final of 12-0 in 5 innings.

James Jackson and Jonathan Canoy managed the only 2 hits for the Patriots. 8 of the 15 Patriot batters struck out in the game. Eddy Palacio pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief striking out two and walking none.

The Patriots next game will be Sunday, April 3rd when they host Penn State Berks. The start time for the DH is set for 2pm.
