Tigers Snap 5 Game Win Streak

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Patriots traveled Saturday to face the Tigers of Trinity Washington University. In their previous meeting, the Patriots were victorious 51-44. That would not be the case Saturday. Foul trouble, along with a 36.2% field goal percentage would be the difference, as the Tigers would come out on top 69-57.

After two quarters, the Patriots trailed 38-31. At that point, Jhanel Brown would put up 16 points, and Bailey Mayforth would have 9. The foul total was manageable, as on Lindsay LeSueur had 3. Jhanel Brown had 2, and Taniyah Faison had 2.

To start the second half, in the third quarter, the Tigers extended their lead immediately to 9. The Patriots would keep fighting back, getting as close as 3, but the Tigers would maintain their 9 point lead at the end of the 3rd, 53-44.

With 5:11 to go in the 4th quarter, again, the Patriots would pull to within 3, but the Tigers would take advantage of the Patriots fouls, and build their lead back from the foul line. For the game, the Tigers hit 16 of their 69 points from the line. Both Jhanel Brown and Mikala Brinson would foul out for the Patriots. Bailey Mayforth, Taniyah Faison, and Lindsay LeSueur all had 4. The Tigers would take the 12 point victory.

Jhanel Brown finished with another double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, as well as adding 1block and 1 assist. Bailey Mayforth finished with 17 points going 6-12 from the field, and 4-7 from beyond the arc.

With the loss, the Patriots drop to 10-8 on the season, and have their 5 game win streak snapped. They will be back in action on Monday, February 8th, as they host the USCAA 12th ranked Nittany Lions of Penn State Brandywine at 7pm.
