Patriots Win 5th Straight, Brown Breaks Her Own Record

ALLENTOWN, PA- The Patriots rode into Cedar Crest College Thursday night, riding a 4 game win streak. They left with a 5 game win streak and more. A game after Freshman Jhanel Brown set a single game record for most rebounds in a game (25), the reigning NCCAA Division II Student-Athlete of the Week topped that off by putting up a new record, 34 rebounds. Final score would be the University of Valley Forge 67, Cedar Crest College 41.

The scoring opened up instantly, as Bailey Mayforth hit a three to start off the game. Mayforth would score 8 of the team's 12 points in the 1st quarter to give them the slight 12-11 lead after one.

The Patriots would double their score in the 2nd quarter. This time, it was Jhanel Brown scoring 7 of her 30 points in the quarter. The half time lead would be up to 5, 24-19.

With 8:30 to go in the 3rd quarter, the Patriots would start their run. It started on another three by Bailey Mayforth. The Patriots gained, and held on to a double digit lead since 6:09 in the 3rd quarter. They never looked back. They would go on an 18-3 run to end the quarter. They outscored the Cougars in the 3rd 18-5.

In the 4th quarter, Jhanel Brown would score 15 of her game high 30 points, to help the Patriots cruise to a 26 point victory. They led by as much as 31.

For the Patriots, Jhanel Brown led all players recording yet another double-double, 30 points, and 34 rebounds. She added 3 blocks and 1 assist to those totals. Bailey Mayforth had one of her better games this season scoring 15.

With the win, the Patriots have now won 5 straight games, and improved to 10-7 on the season. They now have a day off before they travel to Trinity Washington University on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00PM.
