PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The 7-3 Chargers of Lancaster Bible College traveled to Phoenixville Tuesday night, for a match-up with the Patriots. The Patriots were coming off two home wins and looking for their third straight.
The 1
st quarter was fairly even. The Patriots held the largest lead of 4, and the Chargers largest lead was 2, but by the end they were all tied up at 18-18.
According to Patriots Head Coach
Gretchen LeVan,
"the 2nd quarter was the changing point of the game." She couldn't have been more right. The Chargers would go on a 12-0 run to start the quarter. Aubrey Folger would score 17 of her 23 first half points to give the Chargers a sizeable lead. The Chargers outscored the Patriots 31-9 in the 2
nd quarter, and went in at the half up 49-27.
In the 3
rd, Lancaster would continue to build their lead, going up by as many as 33 at the 6:43 mark. Aubrey Folger would cool down compared to the first half, but Katy Stover and Shanice Smith would be all the offense Lancaster needed.
The 4
th quarter was much of the same, as Lancaster Bible would go on for the 83-61. Folger would lead all scorers with 27. Stover and Smith had 18 and 15. With the win the Chargers improve to 8-3.
For the Patriots,
Jhanel Brown recorded yet another double-double scoring 19 points and bringing in 11 rebounds.
Mikala Brinson was next in scoring with 17. The Patriots fall to 5-7 on the season.
*Game Note- In every quarter but the second, the teams scored the same amount of points. 1- 18-18 2-
9-31 3- 19-19 4- 15-15.
The Patriots will return to action Wed. January 20, when they travel to Bryn Mawr College. Tip-off is set for 7:00PM.
