Patriots Fall to Shock

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Shock of Washington Adventist University traveled to face your Patriots Wednesday night, in a battle of ranked teams. The Shock entered the game ranked #4 in the latest USCAA Division I poll. The Patriots entered ranked #10 in the NCCAA Division II poll.

The scoring would be low the entire first half. The first basket was scored 40 seconds in on a tip in by Sean Word. The Shock answered right back with a 3 pointer from Charles Allen. The Shock built their lead to 6 at the 17:21 mark. The next basket wasn't scored until nearly four minutes later when DeAndre Gadsden put in a lay-up from Bryan Pettit. The low scoring first half continued, as the Shock led by as many as 9, but the Patriots would hang in and go in at the half down by only 6, 25-19.

The scoring began to pick up a bit in the second half. The half time differential was the closest the Patriots would get, as the Shock drastically improved their shooting percentages, including 66.7% from behind the arc which was only 33% in the first half. They also went from 42% from the field, to 60%. By the half way mark in the second half, the Shock had opened their lead up to 23. They would lead by as much as 26. Washington Adventist would go on for a 74-50 victory.

With the win the Shock improve to 6-9 on the year. The Patriots fall to 2-11.

Tyrus Fleetwood would lead all scorers with 13, and Brian Bridgeforth would record a double-double for the Shock. Jerome Staley led the Patriots with 11 points.

The Patriots next game will be on the road, Monday, January 18th, as they travel to Cairn University. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
