PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Soccer Team opened their season with a 2-0 defeat against a deep and talented Bryn Athyn squad on Tuesday.
Patriots Head Coach Vernon Dorsey said after the game, "
We came out pretty slow and didn't put enough pressure on them in the first half. As a result, we fell behind early. I was pleased with our push in the second half as the guys got more comfortable together and began making some adjustments. We had some very good opportunities to score, but just couldn't convert. We can definitely build on this performance."
Bryn Athyn took advantage of a tentative Patriots squad in the first half, opening up a 2-0 by the 33
rd minute with goals from Siafa Dempster and substitute Jeremy Beese. They outshot Valley Forge 10-2 in the first half.
In the second half, the Patriots found their form and began making a push. The defense and mid-field did a good job of keeping the attack moving forward, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The game ended at 2-0.
The Patriots will look to rebound this Saturday, September 5
th against rival Cairn University. They will be on the road with kick-off set at 1PM.
Go Patriots!
