WASHINGTON D.C. - The University of Valley Forge Baseball Team traveled to Gallaudet University for double-header action on Thursday, April 23rd. Although the bats came alive, the Patriots defense could not hold down the Bison. Valley Forge lost both games by final scores of 23-5 and 13-8.
In the first game, there were plenty of hits to go around for the Patriots offense. Senior lead-off man
Bryce Koch went 2 for 5 from the plate and scored twice. Seniors
Joshua Strohm and
Jared Boothman also had two hits a piece. Boothman, leading the team in RBI's, drove in three more runs in the contest. Freshman
Matthew Buckery went 3 for 4, including two doubles, and scored twice.
Game two saw the Patriots fall in an early 7-0 hole. However, a big third and fourth inning saw the Patriots bring the game back to even! Discipline at the plate, and timely hitting, brought it back to a 7-7 game going into the bottom of the fourth. The Bison responded by tallying four runs of their own and taking an 11-7 advantage. Valley Forge was not able to get anything else going at the plate and Gallaudet pulled away with a 13-8 victory.
