MEDIA, PA – Coming out of winter break, the University of Valley Forge women's basketball team took on Penn State Brandywine. The Patriots seemed to be a step slower throughout the whole game, losing by a total score of 78-35.
The Lady Lions started out fast, opening an 8-0 lead in the early minutes. After
Ariene Ohimor hit a jumper to bring it within 4, the Lady Lions pulled away using a 25-2 scoring run. Turnovers plagued the Patriots in the first half, committing 16. The Lady Lions scored 19 points of those turnovers and led 45-10 at the half.
It was much of the same in the second half as the Patriots couldn't find a way to get back into the game. The final score was 78-35.
Bailey Mayforth was the only Patriot in double figures with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Mikala Brinson and
Patience Ekuta each finished with 8 points.
Ariene Ohimor had 7 points and tallied double digit rebounds with 11.
The Patriots now travel to Kissimmee, Florida to play in the Johnson University Classic. Their first game will be on Thursday against Bob Jones University at 2:00pm.
