Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Lead Lost

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Valley Forge Lady Patriots took on Trinity Washington University in their first game of the week.  The Lady Patriots were seeking out their first victory of the season, which added to the drama of this already exciting game.

The women took control very early on, with a goal by Kelsey Morrison on an assist by Rachel Stormes, a mere 32 seconds into the game!  From there, the attack was very even throughout the first half, with each team trading control of the pitch, sending shots on target and utilizing their heads and feet to test each other goalie.  The score remained set at 1-0 in favor of Valley Forge despite both team's offensive attacks.

The second half started off with an early corner kick for Valley Forge, but they could not connect on the opportunity.  The Lady Tigers mounted a strong counterattack, which led to a shot from Asya Tucker from 35 yards out that screeched past the Valley Forge goalie, finding the net and tying the game at 1-1.  Again, played settled into a back and forth, even flow with both teams possessing the ball and attempting to break the tie.  A shot attempt by Caitlin LaFountain missed wide, and Trinity again mounted a counterattack.  At the 73:48 mark, Jennifer Ramirez took a shot that just dipped under the crossbar to put the Lady Tigers up 2-1.  Valley Forge could not capitalize on their few opportunities for the rest of the game, and eventually fell to the visitors, 2-1.

The Lady Patriots face off against Washington Adventist University, Wednesday, October 1.  The women will arrive for a 6:30pm start time.

Go Patriots!
