BRYN MAWR, PA- The University of Valley Forge women's soccer team traveled to Bryn Mawr College to compete against the Lady Owls. Set against a cold and rainy backdrop, the Lady Patriots faced an array of shots and were defeated by a final score of 0-4.
The Lady Patriots played 90 minutes of straight defense, facing a total of 48 shots, tied for the highest this season. Veteran goalkeeper
Amanda McGinness protected the net at every turn, keeping the Owls off the board for the first 20 minutes and making a total of 10 saves. At 28:10, McGinness was forced out of the game due to injury. Stepping into the demanding role was
Caitlin LaFountain who gave a solid performance. LaFountain recorded a total of 14 saves.
With little chance to cross over into Owl territory, the women were denied the opportunity to take shots and ended the game without a goal.
The team takes a much needed break before returning home for their next game, hosting Trinity Washington University. The game is scheduled for Monday, September 29, with a 2:30pm start time.
Go Patriots!
