Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Knights Slip Past Lady Patriots

BUENA VISTA, VA- The University of Valley Forge women's soccer team played a solid game against the Southern Virginia University Knights, Friday, September 19.  After 90 minutes of intense physical play, the Lady Patriots were overcome by the Knights, 0-5.

The Knights made their mark on the scoreboard early on, recording their first goal at 5:08 from Sierra Sorenson.  After the first goal, the Lady Patriots gathered themselves and contained the Knight's attacked with strategic defense and solid goaltending from Amanda McGinness.  It appeared UVF would only be down 0-1 going into the break but a last minute goal from Tatiana Morson at 43:06, gave the host school the 2-0 lead.

Into the second period the Lady Patriots continued to face a multitude of shots, fending off a total of 22.  Over the course of the next 45 minutes, the Knights were able to poke holes in the Lady Patriots defense and sneak past the goalie to record three more goals by the conclusion of the game.  The team faced a total of 41 shots but held together to allow just five goals but the end of the game.

Despite the loss, the real story goes to senior goalkeeper Amanda McGinness.  McGinness faced a total of 20 shots on goal, allowing just five to enter the net.

The women take little time to rest as they travel to Front Royal, VA to face Christendom College, Saturday, September 20.  The game is set for a 10AM start!

Go Patriots!
