FRONT ROYAL, VA- The Patriots traveled to Christendom College, Saturday, September 20, to play in their final game of the week. The men went up against the Crusaders and despite taking more shots, failed to connect with the back of the goal and fell, 1-8.
The Patriots played one of their better passing games of the season but were unable to finish the ball to get on the scoreboard until the final minutes of the game. Poor goalkeeping from both keepers paved the way for the Crusaders to build a comfortable lead, tallying five goals in the first stanza and two in the second.
The silver lining came at the end of the second period, when sophomore
Ryon McGinness rocketed a free kick in the upper 90 from 35 yards out. Soaring right over the goalie, the ball connected to the back corner to put the Patriots on the scoreboard and refusing the shutout. The goal was McGinness first of the 2014 season!
The team returns home for the next competition, hosting Bryn Athyn College, Tuesday, September 23. Kickoff is set for 4PM!
Go Patriots!
