GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA- The scoring drought continued for the women's soccer team as the University of Valley Forge Lady Patriots traveled to Gwynedd Mercy University. The Griffins outplayed UVF, scoring seven times while keeping the Lady Patriots off the board.
The Griffins etched an early lead, going up 2-0 in less than 10 minutes after the start of the game. After the second goal, the Lady Patriots were able to settle down their defense and restrain the host school's offense attacks. Just before halftime Gwynedd Mercy was able to line up their players and push a through ball up the middle to break away from the pack and score their third goal of the game.
Into the second stanza the Griffins came on even stronger, taking a total of 20 shots, four of which found their way to the back of the goal. Denied in every way, the Lady Patriots were restricted to their end of the field and were unable to take a single shot the entire second period.
Goalkeeper
Amanda McGinness recorded 16 saves.
Loren Metallo recorded the sole shot on goal.
The women's soccer team hits the road for a trip down to Virginia to compete against Southern Virginia University and Christendom College in a two day excursion.
The Lady Patriots will take on the Lady Knights of Southern Virginia on Friday, September 19. The game is scheduled for a 7PM start.
