Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Patriots Overcome By Defenders

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The women's soccer team competed in their final game of the week, hosting East Region opponent Baptist Bible College.  The Lady Patriots gave up three unanswered goals to the Defenders to drop the match, 0-3.

Eleven minutes into the game Lady Defender Emily Howell put her team on the board, beating out VFCC's defense to record the first goal of the game.  Ten minutes later, Lady Patriot Caitlin LaFountain had a chance to tie the game with VFCC's first shot on goal but was thwarted with a save by BBC's goalie.

At the 26 minute mark the Lady Defenders stretched their lead a little further with another goal from Katrina Bonorow, putting the Defenders up, 2-0.  VFCC was able to contain the Defender's offensive strikes for the remainder of the half to hold the school to a two goal lead.

Throughout the second half, the Defenders continually put the Patriot's defense to the test, taking a total of 14 shots in Patriots territory.  The Lady Patriots were held to just six shots in the second half.  With less than ten minutes to go, the Defenders secured their victory with a third goal from Tianna Belles.

Caitlin LaFountain recorded three shots on goal while Amanda McGinness grabbed 14 saves.

"We are starting to learn to trust one another in order to create our offense and show what our team is about.  Overall today was a physical game!" remarked Head Coach Juan Delcid.

The Lady Patriots head to Philadelphia to play in their next contest, Tuesday, September 16.  The women will be hosted by Gwynedd Mercy University at 3:30PM!

Go Patriots!
