PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Lady Patriots wrapped up the week with a home, playing host to College of St. Elizabeth. The women hit trouble early on, allowing multiple runs in the first inning of each game. Slow at the bat, the Patriots were unable to gain control of the field and gave up both games by final scores of 4-14 and 7-25.
In the first game, the Lady Patriots managed just one run per inning while the Eagle rounded the bases to record 14 runs over the course of four and a half innings. VFCC recorded just eight hits compared to the Eagles 14.
In game two, the offensive flood gates opened for the Eagles as the team went up by 10 runs by the end of the first inning. Continuing to do damage, the Lady Patriots recorded 11 errors, allowing the Eagles to round the bases for extra runs. Finally in the bottom of the fifth inning the women hit a rhythm of their own, recording five runs. However, battling against two outs and the mercy rule, VFCC was unable to overcome the deficit and submitted to the Eagles.
