Annville, PA – The Valley Forge Christian College Patriots men's baseball team was defeated by Lebanon Valley College on Thursday, March 27, by a score of 26-1.
The Patriots, who have yet to secure a win this season, managed to score a run in the top of the first off a sequence of errors, a walk and a hit by pitch. Senior Matthew McKenzie recorded the run and sophomore
Jared Boothman was credited with the RBI.
Aside from the choppy first inning, LVC played flawless defense throughout the remainder of the contest. After allowing that early VFCC run, LVC tightened up their pitching and defense. Throughout the rest of the game, LVC didn't allow a single hit. They didn't walk any VFCC batters and recorded no additional errors. The LVC pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and completely shut down VFCC's offense.
Offensively, LVC dominated, as they finished the game with 26 runs off 27 hits.
The Patriots, who are off to a rough start this season, dropped to 0-7, while LVC improved to a 13-6 record.
The Patriots' next scheduled contest is an away double header against Delaware Valley College on Wednesday, April 2 at 3:30p.m.
